When I started Parasol, it wasn’t because I wanted to create more baby products. It was because I kept hearing the same quiet frustration from parents:
“My baby has sensitive skin, and after trying so many brands, nothing seems to work.”
Parents today are incredibly thoughtful. They read labels. They ask questions about ingredients, materials, and impact. They care deeply about what touches their baby’s skin—and increasingly, what happens after a product is used.
Listening to these conversations is what led us to develop our 100% organic cotton baby wipes.
Voice of our Parents: Safety, Clean Ingredients, and Environmental Impact
Over the years, I’ve heard two things again and again: “My baby has sensitive skin,” and “I want to understand what I’m using.” Parents weren’t just asking about performance. They were asking about materials and impact, too: Is it plastic-free? What is it made from? What happens after I throw it away?
No wipe is a perfect solution, so we’ve tried to be practical and honest. These questions pushed us to look closely at our materials, formulation, and trade-offs, and then to improve where we truly could—step by step.
Why Organic Cotton Matters
For parents, what matters most is simple: what touches their baby’s skin, and how often. Wipes are used up to a dozen times a day, often on already delicate or irritated areas. The material matters.
Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides, harsh chemical fertilizers, or genetically modified seeds. While cotton itself is a natural fiber, how it’s grown and processed can influence both its feel and its environmental footprint.
Compared to conventionally grown cotton, organic cotton farming involves fewer chemical inputs and supports healthier soil systems. At the material level, organic cotton is softer and more breathable, qualities many parents look for when caring for sensitive skin.
Organic cotton is one of the most comfortable materials available. Beyond that, it supports skin health, more responsible farming practices, and environmental care. That’s why we chose to start with the material and the process behind it.

Why We Started With Wipes (Not Diapers—Yet)
We’re often asked why we didn’t start with organic cotton diapers.
The honest answer is that developing organic cotton diapers that meet our standards for performance, absorbency, leak protection, and affordability is incredibly complex. It’s something we’re actively working toward, and it remains part of our long-term vision.
Wipes, however, offered a more immediate opportunity to deliver the benefits of organic cotton where they matter most in everyday use.
Wipes are used frequently, often on already sensitive or irritated skin. If we could meaningfully improve one everyday essential right now, this was it.
Biodegradability, Compostability, and Real-World Impact
We also heard from parents who want more environmentally conscious options, and we believe meaningful improvement starts with the materials themselves.
Cotton, as a natural fiber, is biodegradable under the right conditions. By choosing organic cotton for our wipes, we were able to reduce reliance on synthetic fibers and move away from plastic-based materials that persist in the environment.
At the same time, we believe transparency builds trust. Compostability can vary based on local facilities and disposal systems, which look different from place to place. While no wipe is completely impact-free, choosing better materials is a meaningful step forward.
Our goal isn’t perfection. It’s thoughtful progress — selecting materials that are gentler on skin, reducing unnecessary plastic, and moving everyday products in a more responsible direction.
Why We Added Pro-Vitamin B5
Frequent wiping dries out baby skin, even when gentle materials are used. That’s why we chose to include pro-vitamin B5, also known as panthenol, in our wipe formulation.
Pro-vitamin B5 is a skin-conditioning ingredient commonly used in sensitive-skin and baby-care products. It is derived from vitamin B5 and is known for its ability to attract and retain moisture. When applied to the skin, it helps support hydration and comfort rather than disrupting the skin’s natural balance.
In everyday use, pro-vitamin B5 is known to help:
-
Hydrate and moisturize skin
-
Support the skin barrier
-
Soothe sensitivity during frequent changes
The result is a wipe that cleans effectively while helping maintain moisture, instead of stripping it away with repeated use.
To make sure these choices weren’t just thoughtful in intention, but also verified in practice, we worked to meet rigorous third-party standards for both material quality and skin safety.
Our wipes are:
-
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified
-
EWG Verified®
-
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified
-
Awarded the Dermatest® Excellent seal

More Choice, Not One “Right” Answer
Every family prioritizes differently. Some parents care most about organic materials. Others focus on performance, price, or convenience. Many care about all of it—and try to balance those priorities every day.
Our goal with these wipes is to:
-
Provide more thoughtful options
-
Respect different values and preferences
-
Keep everyday essentials accessible and affordable
Sustainability, like parenting, isn’t all-or-nothing. It’s a series of conscious efforts.
